Hello guys! On 11 May, some of us headed down to Life Community
Service Society to carry out a science experiment with the kids after school.
The first activity was the colour wheel. We asked them to colour every section of the wheel with different colours and spin it.
Tadah! Soon enough, their own colour wheels were completed. They got to observe
a white light being reflected while the wheel was spinning. This is due to the eyes
not being able to pick on the light reflected on the colours individually as the wheel was spinning too fast, hence all the colours seemed to "merge together" to form white light.
The next activity was to build an Eiffel tower using straws. This helps the kids to understand the centre of gravity.
They communicated with each other and worked hard together to build it!
The last
activity was card making. Since Mother's Day was a few days away, we decided that we should all write a card thanking our mothers for all the love and care they have given us.
Trying to display their creativity by using markers to decorate the card!
And we are done!
It was certainly a fun day with the kids learning about how science is in every aspect of our lives, whether big or small. We also got to display our creativity skills during the card making session, as well as during the building of the Eiffel tower!
