Sup all! It really has been awhile...
For the Year 1s, Welcome to the DPCS Family! Congratulations in making through and for those who did not make through, I don't know if you read this or not, my condolences and hope you went somewhere.
For the Year 2s, Welcome back to DPCS and you are Seniors starting from today! Awesome! Except not really that awesome since Year 2 is a year where things start to get a bit crazy and people start to become a bit cranky. (For e.g. you are reading one now.)
For the Year 3s, give yourself a pat on your back since all of us have not rested since the last semester! For those who don't know, Year 2s have to do two sets of ITP with a duration of 6 weeks each after every semester, using our holidays...
...
...
And guess what? We are the only awesome diploma who uses holidays to do ITP. And why? So that we can take the same number of modules every semester, without losing the edge of 3 months ITP when being compared with other diplomas! Awesome!...
Well on the brighter side, think of it as doing part time during your holidays where you earn extra cash... Except not really, because you are working full day shift with pay as high as $20 a day. However money is not important, it is the experience that counts. No sarcasm for that, because there are ITPs where you can earn more than $20 a day but all you do is swat flies in the office.
In conclusion, think of ITP as a learning journey, if it is relevant to what we are studying, good for you and try to absorb as much as possible. Preferably, be a sponge during your time there. If it is irrelevant, then learn as much irrelevant things as you can there. If there is nothing for you to do there, learn how to act like you are doing something as much as possible to leave a good impression. That is a skill and something to learn as well. That is what I call, self-learning or rather, self-improvising.
I don't know if this still applies but there is actually a way to get out of ITP. Or technically speaking, exempted from 1 set of ITP, meaning you do only 1 time which is only 6 weeks instead of 12 weeks. A couple of classmates and I went for Poly Forum 2011 and were exempted from ITP since the dates clashed with one another, resulting in us having to go for a 4D3N overseas trip during that 3 weeks. We were at disadvantage though, since our classmates are working and gaining experience during those 3 weeks while us (or rather me), was just hanging out with friends and chilling without learning anything useful.
So I hope you all get a better understanding of how ITPs work and by now you should have realised I am not the usual person who do these posts because I have a huge ego and my English is so bad that I really don't know why I still write long posts though this was one of my shorter ones as things could get really bad if I am writing a super long because things can go on and on for hours until I realised it is time for my next meal and I have to stop my fingers from typing crap because they would be too busy trying to hold my plates of food and drinks. Although there are no commas above, trust me you have no problem reading that because your brain "commas" for you.
Wish you all well, be healthy, eat fruits and study hard!
Best regards,
DPCS Year 3 (V.I.P LOL)
